Performance Numbers of MVAPICH on opteron Platform (02/28/08)

• Experimental Testbed: Each node of our testbed has Sun Fire x2100 servers with dual 2.6 Ghz processors with 1024 KB L2 cache. Each node also has 2 Gigabyte memory and PCI-Express bus. They are equipped with MT25208 HCAs with PCI-Ex interfaces. A Silverstorm 5000 switch is used to connect all the nodes. The operating system used was OpenSolaris (build version 72).

• MVAPICH currently delivers one-way latency of 3.88 microseconds for 4 bytes, unidirectional bandwidth upto 980 Million Bytes/sec and bidirectional bandwidth upto 1852 Million Bytes/sec on the above testbed. (1 Mega Byte = 1,048,576 Bytes; 1 Million Byte = 1,000,000 Bytes)
