Performance Numbers of MVAPICH-1.0 on opteron Platform (02/28/08)

• Experimental Testbed: Each node of our testbed has two AMD Opteron 2.8 Ghz processors with 1024 KB L2 cache. Each node also has 8 Gigabyte memory and HyperTransport bus. They are equipped with InfiniPath-QHT7040 HCAs with HyperTransport interfaces. A Infinicon 24-port SDR switch is used to connect all the nodes. The operating system used was Red Hat AS4. InfiniPath software Release 2.1 was used to build MVAPICH. InfiniPath MPI is the MPI included in the InfiniPath Software Release 2.1.

• MVAPICH-1.0 currently delivers one-way latency of 1.25 microseconds for 4 bytes, unidirectional bandwidth upto 953 Million Bytes/sec and bidirectional bandwidth upto 1891 Million Bytes/sec on the above testbed. (1 Mega Byte = 1,048,576 Bytes; 1 Million Byte = 1,000,000 Bytes)
