Performance Numbers of MVAPICH on Intel Clovertown Platform (11/14/08)

  • Experimental Testbed: Each node of our testbed has a dual processor (2.33 GHz quad-core) and 6 GB main memory. The CPUs support the EM64T technology and run in 64 bit mode. The nodes support 8x PCI Express interfaces and are equipped with Mellanox ConnectX HCAs with PCI Express interfaces. A Flextronics 144-port DDR switch is used to connect all the nodes. The operating system used was RedHat Enterprise Linux Server 5.
  • MVAPICH currently delivers one-way latency of 0.45 microseconds for 4 bytes and unidirectional bandwidth upto 5591 Million Bytes/sec for shared cache transfers, a one-way latency of 0.64 microseconds and an unidirectional bandwidth of upto 2327 Million Bytes/sec for a intra-socket transfer and a one-way latency of 0.89 microseconds and an unidirectional bandwidth of upto 1136 Million Bytes/sec for a inter-socket transfer on the above testbed. (1 Mega Byte = 1,048,576 Bytes; 1 Million Byte = 1,000,000 Bytes)
